In recent years, eLearning has grown to be a popular choice of education. With eLearning’s many advantages, it gives new educational opportunity to many who could not afford the cost or the time. Especially working class people and family orientated people.
The greatest advantage of eLearning is that it allows users to learn at their leisure. Novices are able to progress at their own pace, while veterans of the topics are able to breeze through quickly. This method creates a flexible balance of work and school according to the user’s schedule. Even with comprehensive eLearning programs, it is typically less expensive than traditional degree programs.

Unfortunately eLearning is not for everyone. ELearning requires the user to be more self-motivated, however some people are more driven by the physical environment of a class. ELearning is known to have it’s own disadvantages. The technology that brings eLearning to life is also its’ Achilles’ heel. While technology is becoming more stable, there are still instances of technological failures. Communication with the instructor and fellow students are also limited and in most case never face to face. Students have fewer opportunities to learn to communicate verbally and opportunities of actual networking. Above all, working alone could be unmotivating for many people that are used to traditional classroom environments.
Question #2 of Week 1:
Knowing the disadvantages of eLearning, what are some ways a novice eLearning student could prevent or prepare against the upcoming challenges?

While at CPCC I took some online classes. I felt that they were usually harder than traditional face to face classes. I think that hearing comments and questions from other students helps me out in a face to face class. One thing that made online classes easier for me was to create a schedule and to do my class work at a particular time every week. In my experience it is very easy to fall behind on your work when you are enrolled in an online class.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you Kristy, I took my first online class (Statistics) at CPCC. That was the worst semester I had. I am sure if I took that course in traditional class, I would have been more successful. You just have to know what class requires face to face or online class. Now I take most of elective classes online. I believe that was the best choice and I enjoyed a lot.
ReplyDeleteI think eLearning is a positive way to learn all around. Elearning is the ideal way to let students work at their own pace whether fast or slow. This type of learning also teaches independence and that is what college is all about. More students can take the class because they do not have to worry about it fitting into their schedule. This is also a positive for universities where they don't have to worry about having enough room in a class to fit students and it is cheaper. The idea of eLearning is only going to get bigger over time with everyone’s busy schedule not being confined to one time and place for a class.
ReplyDeleteE-learning is more convenient and easy. For me online education software platform is best way for learning.
